I would suspect that most people accessing this forum would understand asset management as referring to the management of infrastructure assets, however, many people understand the term "asset management" as referring to the management of financial assets. For example, a Google search on "asset management" includes the IAM on the middle ofthe first page of results, but all other search results and all the sponsored links (except one) refer to financial asset management.
Does this confusion of terminology hinder the development of infrastructure asset management as a professional discipline?
Should a new name for "infrastructure asset management" be developed to avoid confusion?
