Structure of PAS55 Requirements

Structure of PAS55 Requirements

PAS55 is structured along the lines of Deming’s Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle in the same way as many Quality Management systems. Indeed, the requirements of good asset management have been cross-mapped against those of ISO 9001 (see Appendix in PAS 55-1) as well as ISO 14000 Environmental and OHSAS 18000 Health and Safety management systems requirements.

This enables efficient, coordinated monitoring of compliance with all such requirements with minimal duplication. The PAS55 checklist is therefore highly complementary to these other management systems - addressing elements that would not otherwise be covered (such as risk management and optimization), and clarifying the integration requirements across functional requirements.

Note, in particular, the grouping of “Asset Management Enablers and Controls” - this provides a systematic consideration of the underlying, generic attributes of a good asset management system, whose impact is felt in the overall effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of the system.
