Education and Professional Development

The Institute of Asset Management (IAM) seeks to promote and support the adoption of asset management best practices and in particular the development of asset management systems compliant with the requirements of BSI PAS 55:2008.

To support this objective the IAM have instituted a number of initiatives that that support the education of asset managers within organisations.  The cornerstone of this education is the Competences Framework.  This framework describes the skill sets of individuals within a PAS55 compliant organisation.

To develop these skill sets the IAM endorses training organisations that deliver PAS55 compliant training courses. This represents a first step in a continuing professional development and recognised qualifications that the IAM are aiming to put in place.

Continuing Professional Development

To enable organisations to embed “good practice” asset management, the IAM has developed Competence Requirements for Asset Managers to support their Professional Development and Accreditation.

A brochure is available to download (see Overview of the Framework).
