IMechE Asset Management 2017 Seminar Explores Obsolescence

The IAM is delighted to have supported IMechE at their asset management seminar this year, a day-long event that took place at London Marriott Hotel in Regents Park, London, on 26 April 2017.

IMechE Seminar: Strategies for obsolescence

The asset management seminar took an in-depth look at strategies to deal with obsolete legacy assets, which are a consequence of replacement parts being unavailable or too costly.

The day was packed with invaluable case studies from different sectors. The morning began with Steve Nelson of BAE Systems speaking about plans for sustainable future military aircraft programmes, followed by London Underground’s Nathan Eldridge who explained how Transport for London designs and applies obsolescence strategies.

Further speakers included Annabel West from Gatwick Airport, Rob Santoro of Rolls-Royce Nuclear Engineering Services, Wolfgang Hahn from EDF Energy, James Neophytou at IBM Global Business Services and Graeme Rumney from Sellafield Ltd.

An opportunity to network and discuss at the IMechE seminar

Between these insightful talks, attendees were able to network before finishing the day with roundtable discussions. The afternoon discussions gave professionals the opportunity to put learning points into practice, reflecting on how future obsolescence strategies might be applied and monitored in their own organisations.

The IAM was delighted to support IMechE at this valuable event.
