Asset Management Training in Uganda-Nov 2025

The second day of the Institute of Asset Management Uganda Chapter launch held on 6-7 November 2025 at Silver Springs Hotel Bugolobi, Kampala focused on an intensive asset management training delivered by Cohesive the main event partner.

The asset management training brought together professionals from government institutions, utilities, academia and the private sector. Participants engaged in practical learning on global asset management principles, standards and best practices, strengthening their capacity to plan, manage and sustain organizational assets while promoting improved infrastructure performance and long-term value creation in Uganda.

The training formed an important part of the official launch activities of the IAM Uganda Chapter, reinforcing the Chapter’s commitment to advancing professional asset management knowledge and skills in the country.

The training topics included:

  1. Integrating Asset Management strategies with Capacity Building for Long -Term Operational
    Success in Uganda by Merian Ahabwe - EACOP National Content Manager, and  Christophe Carmon - EACOP Field Manager UG and Deputy Operations Director.
  2. Understanding the Asset Management foundation as defined by the ISO 55000 series of International Standards for Asset Management by Bouke Spoelstra:  Senior Sales Lead, Cohesive Africa.
  3. Case Study 1: Uganda Utility Presentation “An overview of our ISO 55000 Asset Management Vision and Roadmap” by Dr. Jemimah Connie Akiror - Manager Asset Management, Uganda Electricity Generation
    Company Limited.
  4. Establishing an Asset Management Data Baseline using additional ISO Standards by S’bo Zulu - Senior Digital Consultant, Cohesive.
  5. Using ISO alignment audits as a method to identify deficiencies in your Asset Management Strategy and as an input into your improvement Roadmap by Leon Erasmus - Principle Digital Consultant, Cohesive.
  6. Case Study 2: Mkwawa Leaf Tobacco Presentation: “Our first steps to ISO 55000 alignment - Getting the basics right from an East African perspective” by Elisha Mbije - Maintenance Engineer at Mkwawa Leaf Tobacco Company Limited.
  7. Culture and Change Management: The hidden enablers of a successful Asset
    Management System Implementation by Flippie Coetzee - Manager of Services Delivery, Cohesive.
  8. The modern Asset Management System - Utilising Artificial Intelligence (AI), to apply Predictive Maintenance, Asset Performance Management (APM) and Asset Investment Planning Strategies by Bouke Spoelstra - Senior Sales Manager, Cohesive.
  9. The IAM Certificate & Diploma: Physical asset management (ISO 5500X series) by Henry Mulindwa-IAM Uganda Chapter.
