The IAM Chapters of Canada and USA present a pair of webinars entitled Strategic Asset Management Planning – More than Just the SAMP! 

During this webinar we will share some unique ways the port has adapted the traditional SAMP to make it a meaningful document that enables awareness and execution of the port’s asset management objectives.

Part 1, on May 17th, features Blair Trame, Director in KPMG’s Infrastructure Advisory Practice, and Dan Hendrickson, Vice President of Asset Management and Special Projects at the Port of Virginia. The SAMP serves as the principle guiding document for The Port of Virginia’s asset management practices and the overall Asset Management Program.

We will share some unique ways the port has adapted the traditional SAMP to make it a meaningful document that enables awareness and execution of the port’s asset management objectives. 

Thomas Smith and Boudewijn Neijens will be hosts and moderators for this interactive session.

These interactive sessions will provide an opportunity to ask questions and learn from some of North America’s pre-eminent Asset Management experts.

Blair Trame

Blair Trame is a Director in KPMG’s Infrastructure Advisory Practice. He is experienced in capital planning, financial, economic, and statistical analysis in both the public and private sector and across multiple industries. He holds a certificate in asset management from the Institute of Asset Management (IAM).

Blair has wide experience advising public and private sector clients  on a variety of topics, including capital planning, developing asset management programs, implementing performance monitoring regimes, implementing enterprise asset management software, and generally aligning practices to meet the organization’s technical needs while providing positive commercial value.

He holds a Master’s in Public Policy degree from Duke University and a B.A. in Economics & Accountancy from Thomas More University.

Dan Hendrickson

Dan Hendrickson is the Vice President of Asset Management and Special Projects at the Port of Virginia.  Currently he is responsible for the mid and long term financial planning, forecasting demand and equipment needs, and optimizing maintenance practices. He has worked at the port for 7 years throughout which he has coordinated with universities around the Commonwealth on research topics related to the port.   

Prior to the port, he had worked for 5 years a Lockheed Martin in various analytics roles.  He has also worked for the government at NATO in The Hague Netherlands, and worked for Electric Boat helping design the Virginia class submarines.    

Dan holds an MBA from Virginia Tech, completed while he was with Lockheed Martin, and a Masters and Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.  He is currently a PhD Candidate at the College of William and Mary in the Department of Applied Science.
