The IAM NxtGen Committee have gathered a diverse panel of experienced asset management professionals, who will discuss and explore the challenges faced by the asset management community with regards to diversity and inclusion. A series of pre-determined questions covering various diversity and inclusion topics will be posed to the panellists. The panellists will provide their real-life experience and their thoughts on what can be done to encourage diversity and promote inclusion across the industry.

Alexandra Knight, Technical Director, Amey Strategic Consulting
Alex is a Chartered Engineer, Member of the IAM and Fellow of the IMechE with over 15 years' experience in engineering. As an engineering consultant she has worked in a variety of sectors from medical to power to defence solving engineering and asset management challenges. She is also a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor at Brunel University London and the Founder of Stemazing Ltd – a business dedicated to raising the profile of STEM and championing diversity and inclusion in engineering. Alex is passionate about developing others and promoting engineering and asset management. She loves inspiring others about STEM and mentoring women in engineering. She is also a Trustee on the Board of the Women's Engineering Society and supports the IAM’s Inclusion Group.
Lila Tachtsi, Asset Management Director, Highways England
Lila is the Asset Management Director for Highways England, holding more than 25 years’ experience in the transport sector in the UK and overseas. She started her career at the University of Birmingham where she was involved with leading research in asset management. Lila joined Atkins in 2003 and held Technical and Business leadership positions throughout, investing significant time understanding the challenges that asset managers face, whilst developing innovative, effective and pragmatic solutions for various clients facing similar challenges. Lila is the Chair of the World Road Association UK and a member of the WRA Asset Management Technical Committee, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a member of the ICE Professionalism Panel, a member of the IAM Council and External Examiner at the University of Birmingham MSc Course on Road Management. Lila is passionate about good asset management, about sharing knowledge and good practice as demonstrated by regularly presenting at national and international conferences on asset management topics.
Ashley Barratt, Director, meliorate GmbH
Ashley Barratt spends his professional life building infrastructure and transforming organisations. To achieve this requires investment in human, technical and financial capital. His skill is in building successful people, teams and organisations to deliver productive change. He does his best work with diverse groups of people energised by a sense of purpose.
