Sameer Makhija

Sameer has over twenty-five years of experience in Asset Management, Inspection & Compliance Management and Business Process Management solutions. Experience ranges in multiple asset intensive domains like Water & Wastewater, Public Sector, Facility Management, Manufacturing & Healthcare.

Represents Hexagon asset lifecycle intelligence division which focuses on designing, constructing, and operating industrial facilities with enhanced safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Solution helps organizations unlock data, accelerate digital transformation, and improve decision-making across the asset lifecycle.

I am a Global EPC Executive & Digital Engineering/Project Management/Construction Leader driving enterprise-scale innovation across complex infrastructure, energy projects & markets. My expertise sits at the intersection of engineering, technology, and strategy and lead strategic digital delivery initiatives that modernize capital project execution, enhance asset lifecycle performance, and embed data-driven decision-making across while transforming how capital projects are designed, delivered, and operated through digital innovation across global portfolios including Europe, the Middle East, Asia[1]Pacific and North America.
At Siemens Energy, I oversee global Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Digital Execution Strategies aligning technology, governance, and operational excellence to deliver measurable performance improvement across major energy programs worldwide while driving enterprise-wide transformation across business areas.
Previously, as Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Istanbul Airport, I directed technical governance and digital delivery for one of the world’s largest airport developments, ensuring alignment between design, construction, and operational readiness within a fully digital environment. Alongside industry leadership, I contribute to industry thought leadership and academia as an Adjunct Associate Professor at University of Wollongong in Dubai, focusing on digital engineering, innovation strategy, and asset management. Dr. Ahmed Hassan Ahmed Obaid Almarzooqi

Ahmed Hassan Almarzooqi is the Vice President of Asset Management at Etihad Water and Electricity Company, where he leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for the organization’s Asset Management System, Network Planning, Standards and Specifications, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). His work focuses on advancing utility performance through strategic asset governance, data‑driven planning, and the integration of modern engineering systems. 

With more than 17 years of experience in the electricity and water sector, Ahmed has held key technical and managerial roles across the UAE. He previously served as an Inspection Engineer at the Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA) and later as Manager of Distribution Asset Management – Substations at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), where he oversaw ISO 55001 compliance, asset acquisition processes, and lifecycle performance monitoring. 

Ahmed earned his PhD in 2024 with research centred on energy trading within electricity distribution networks. His broader research interests include Smart Grids, Smart Cities, Asset Management Systems, Reliability and Maintenance, and Engineering Systems Management. 

He is a Senior Member of IEEE and an active member of both the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institute of Asset Management (IAM). 

Adnan Abaalhareth

• N. P. Sundar has 43 years of rich, cross-functional and varied experience in the industry, with 36 years of them previously in large, asset intensive manufacturing organizations, (RIL, IPCL) in India and subsequently in consulting.
• He is a Mechanical Engineer, a Chartered Engineer, and a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional with an Advanced Certificate in Business Consulting from AIMA.
• His overall experience spans Project & Project Engineering, Commissioning, Operations & Maintenance, Condition Monitoring, Asset Integrity & Reliability, Process & Workplace Safety, Planning & Strategy, Performance & Governance. He has held Technical, Functional, Management & Leadership roles at various locations and in various functions.
• He is experienced in Step Change Digitalization and Improvement Programs in the Management areas of Maintenance, Asset Integrity & Reliability and Process Safety and
• Enterprise Digital and Business Transformation of Reliability and Asset Management.
• He is a Member of SMRP, IAM India (Chair-Membership; Member-IAM Council); Life Fellow of CVS (Member-Governing Council), IEI and Life Member of AIMA, ISTD.
• He is currently providing his independent Assessment, Consulting & Training Services to asset owners, solution/service providers, trade bodies and professional organizations.
• He is also a member of BIS MSD-12 Sectional Committee and ISO Technical Committee 251 (04 Groups) on Asset Management for development and adoption of various Standards.

Rhys Davies

Rhys is the Founder and General Manager of Smart Asset Management Solutions (SmartAMSol FZCO) based in UAE. He supports clients in delivering value and developing their Asset Management capabilities. 

Rhys is the former Chair of ISO/TC251 having led 35 countries in developing International Standards for Asset Management including the ISO55000 series for 14 years. Rhys is a Fellow of the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) as well as a Registered Asset Management Professional. He has been involved in a variety of roles including IAM Board (2014 – 2016) and IAM Council previous to that. He is currently engaged with IAM Chapters in both UAE and KSA as well as being a member of Gulf Society of Maintenance and Reliability (GSMR).
