Asset Management in Defence
An evening of great discussion around adoption and implementation of Asset Management in the UK and World Defence Enterprise.
We have some great insight provided by our speakers who represent a wide breadth of asset ownership, such as the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA).
This event is jointly held under the auspice of the IAM South West Branch and Team Defence Information.

Ray Galeozzie (Asset Insights)
Ray is a Certified Asset Management Professional experienced in Lifecycle Engineering and Programme Management.
He has specialised in developing maintenance strategies and approaches and actively supported the development of the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) Reliability Engineering Subject Specific Guidance, Ray is the co-founder of Asset Insights Limited, an Asset Performance Management company and is the IAM South West branch chair, he also sits on the committees for the UK Chapter of the IAM and KLG.
Pierre Delamotte (Atkins)
Pierre is a Certified Asset Management Professional experienced in the Asset Management Decision Making and the Lifecycle Delivery.
Pierre is the Professional Head of Sustainable Disciplines in the Aerospace & Defence business domain at Atkins. He has a strong background in Supportability Engineering (ILS), Support Solution architecture and In-Service Support in the Land domain. Pierre is also a Chartered Engineer, a full member of the IAM and the IET. Finally, he is the Industry co-chair of the Supply Chain & Supportability Engineering Working Group (SCSEWG) in Team Defence Info, an organisation that brings together Industry and the MOD, collaborating to optimise the value from business information.
Sam Cornelius
Having obtained previous project management experience from the private sector over the last 10 years, Sam joined the Submarine Delivery Agency in January 2021 after lockdown to further his career and be a part of a subject area he has real interest in – Submarines!
His current programme of work has been centred around developing the Asset Management methodology within the SDA, and working on a strategy to deliver this change, alongside colleagues, to the organisation. Having no prior Asset Management experience he is learning on the job as we progress and pulling on the knowledge of wider communities.
Rhys Davies
Rhys is the Global Consulting Leader for Asset Management at Atkins. He supports business units across the SNC Lavalin group in delivering value for clients and developing their Asset Management capabilities.
Rhys is the Chair of ISO/TC251 leading 35 countries in developing International Standards for Asset Management including the ISO55000 series. Rhys is a Fellow of the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) as well as a Registered Asset Management Professional. He has been involved in a variety of roles including IAM Board (2014 – 2016) and IAM Council previous to that. He is currently the Atkins representative at the IAM UK Patrons Group.
Liam Mckenna (MOD)
Liam leads the Asset Management Programme across Defence Infrastructure and is also an active member of The IAM sitting on the Professional Development Committee.
His knowledge in the subject stems from his 30 plus years managing assets within the maritime sector, including as the Asset Management Director for two of the world’s largest shipping operators. A background in engineering, operational maintenance and large International Programmes coupled with his leadership in Asset Management best practice is now being used to implement one of the largest Asset Management initiatives currently underway within Government and across the UK. Liam is a member of various institutions, including The IAM and is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. He is supported by a very capable team from across Defence and through a Strategic Partnership with Atkins, EY and The Woodhouse Partnership.
