City of Bellevue, WA Utilities (Bellevue) initiated a program to develop a standardized, data driven process for condition assessment of their sanitary pump stations. This effort comes alongside their existing program for utilizing Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to establish maintenance approaches and identify improvements to eliminate potential sources of failure. The presentation will provide an overview of Bellevue’s condition assessment approach, FMECA program, and how coordinating these efforts will provide Bellevue with a managed approach to maintaining their sanitary pump stations.

Ben Swain
Ben Swain has over 24 years of experience in consulting and water utilities. He is an asset management consultant with Brown and Caldwell, assisting clients with the development of asset management programs and implementation of reliability approaches.
His work includes implementing condition assessment programs, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), capital planning, risk frameworks, computerized maintenance management systems, failure coding, and asset management guidance documents.
Prior to Brown and Caldwell, he was the asset management leader for the City of Dayton, Ohio Department of Water.
