As resilience rises on the agenda across asset-intensive organisations, many professionals are still facing a practical challenge: how to translate it from a “good idea” into something that creates real value through everyday asset management decisions.

The IAM Good Practice Guide for Improving Resilience is a tool created to support this goal, and help organisations make resilience usable inside existing asset management framework, rather than treating it as a separate technical or compliance exercise.

Using recent feedback from the IAM community and insights from the global efforts to advance resilience in standardization, this session will explore how the Good Practice Guide provides a unique value as a high-level business integration tool across the asset management system, and how it help address the issues that actually drive decisions: service continuity, disruption tolerance, investment priorities, risk appetite, recovery expectations, and long-term organisational value.

Attendees should come away with a practical mental model for positioning resilience in their own organizational context, a better language for engaging leadership and decision-makers, and a clearer view of how to navigate emerging guidance to move from general resilience appetite to structured actions.
