The United Arab Emirates is barely fifty-four years old, yet it is home to the world's tallest tower, one of its busiest airports, and — surprisingly to many — one of the world's very first ISO 55001 certifications, issued just weeks after the standard was published. So here is the question: when a nation compresses a century of asset creation into two generations, what does it take to steward that rise for the generations to come?

Ahmad is a civil engineer and the sole engineer at the Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai, a government body dedicated to serving vulnerable members of the community. A graduate of the University of Nottingham, he was a finalist for the 2026 IAM NXTGEN Excellence Award in recognition of his work establishing an asset management function at CDA, including a GRP maintenance communication system and sustainability partnerships that reduced energy and water consumption across the organisation's facilities. He is an active member of the IAM community and is currently pursuing MIAM certification.
