Practical Approaches to Managing Ageing Assets
Ageing infrastructure is a growing challenge worldwide, with many critical water and wastewater assets now reaching the end of their design life. Utilities face increasing pressure to maintain service levels, secure funding for renewal programmes, and identify practical solutions that minimise cost and disruption.
This interactive workshop focuses on the real-world delivery of asset renewal and renovation projects. Through practical case studies and facilitated discussions, participants will explore how organisations have planned, funded and implemented ageing asset programmes while maintaining essential services.
Topics will include:
- Developing and prioritising asset renewal projects
- Managing service continuity during refurbishment and replacement works
- Contract and programme management
- Innovative technologies and techniques for asset renovation
- Funding and investment considerations
- Lessons learned from real projects
The workshop will also identify opportunities to share knowledge and practical experiences across the sector, contributing to future industry guidance and publications on managing ageing assets.
Hosted in collaboration with: The Institute of Asset Management (IAM), the Royal Academy of Engineering, the International Society for Trenchless Technology (ISTT), and Water & Sanitation for Urban Populations (WSUP).
