This year has seen the opening of five new stations in the West Midlands, and the West Midlands Rail Executive stands to coordinate further growth in rail out to 2050 through its investment strategy. Join us as we hear from Andrew Leo on how WMRE is planning to take the lead on rail travel within the West Midlands, and the investment in assets you can expect to see.

Andrew Leo
Strategic Lead, Rail Reform (WM Rail Executive)Andrew Leo is the Strategic Lead for Rail Reform at the West Midlands Rail Executive, where he shapes the region’s approach to rail devolution and the transition to Great British Railways. His work is focused on securing a stronger and more influential role for WMRE, which represents 16 local authorities across the West Midlands region. Prior to leading the region’s rail reform agenda, Andrew oversaw rail and tram planning and delivery for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, helping to ensure the successful transport operation of a major international event. Before joining WMRE, Andrew spent 12 years at Network Rail in roles spanning strategic planning to operational management, providing a strong grounding in both long-term industry strategy and day to day railway operations.
