SSG Incident Management & Response - NEW
The Institute of Asset Management is delighted to launch Subject Specific Guidance Incident Management & Response
This SSG focuses on Incident Management & Response within the Life Cycle Delivery phase of Asset Management. It's part of a broader series of guidelines designed to support professionals across various sectors—not as textbooks, but as practical tools for informed decision-making.
This SSG is ideal for anyone involved in incident management and response including responding to failures and incidents of an organization’s assets or its asset management system in a systematic manner. It includes guidance on incident detection and identification, fault analysis, use of standard responses, temporary and permanent repair procedures, site access and handback, reporting and updating of asset information systems.
Failures and incidents can have a wide range of consequences for an organization and its stakeholders. This SSG explores the response arrangements an organization can employ to handle failures and incidents commensurate with the consequences of the failures and includes mechanisms to escalate control of the response to the appropriate level of management.
The SSG also includes a series of case studies and worked examples from different sectors that highlight important lessons learned from managing faults and responding to incidents
