Volunteer Opportunity: Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Framework
Call for Volunteers: IAM Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Framework
The Institute of Asset Management (IAM) is excited to invite volunteers to support the design and launch of a new IAM Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Framework.
This is a high‑profile initiative critical to strengthening professional capability across our global asset management community and recognizing lifelong learning for IAM members.
The CPD Framework is being developed to enable engagement on progress at the IAM Global Conference, 17–18 June 2026, and will underpin how IAM members plan, record, validate, and demonstrate their ongoing professional development.
Who We Need
We are seeking committed asset management professionals who are motivated to shape the future of professional development within the discipline.
Ideal volunteers will bring experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Asset management practice across strategic, tactical, or operational levels
- Competency frameworks, professional standards, or capability maturity models
- Learning & development (L&D), training design, or assessment models
- Accreditation, certification, or professional body governance
- Financial modelling, business cases, or value assessment
Experience with IAM frameworks (e.g. Anatomy, SAM, Pathway to Excellence) is highly desirable but not essential.
What You’ll Do
Volunteers will work collaboratively as part of structured working and steering groups, contributing to clearly defined deliverables across the project life cycle.
Typical activities may include:
- Collaborating regularly in focused working group sessions (virtual)
- Contributing expert input to define CPD activities, value metrics, and success measures
- Supporting key deliverables, such as:
- The “Why CPD” value proposition
- Impact assessment and benefits articulation
- Research into external accreditation options and requirements
- Defining relevant and appropriate CPD activities
- Options for technology for CPD tracking
- Reviewing and validating draft framework documentation
- Helping shape practical, member‑focused CPD guidance aligned to IAM competencies and professional levels
Time commitment will vary by workstream but is designed to be manageable and time‑boxed.
Project Duration
The project has kicked off in 2025 and is expected to run until June 2026, with the most active volunteer involvement occurring between January and May 2026.
