In order to hold global temperature increases below 2°C and meet the net zero goals set by governments across the world, it is estimated that trillions of dollars of assets will become “stranded” – i.e. unable to be used and become a liability before the end of their economic lifetime.

This is an emerging issue for asset managers and it is vital that we manage it effectively to support meeting climate targets while maintaining the profitability of the organisations we work for.

At this event, National Grid will describe how they are managing their electricity transmission assets which contain sulphur hexafluoride (SF6), a highly potent greenhouse gas, followed by a discussion where we invite you to contribute on how asset managers should react to the risk of asset stranding.

We will also be joined by Ursula Bryan, the CEO of the IAM, who will speak to us about some of the key initiatives within the IAM and the developments for members over the next 1-2 years.

We look forward to hosting the first Midlands branch event of 2023 and hope to see you there.
