New - IPWEA and IAM Memorandum of Understanding

The Institute of Asset Management (IAM) and The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) Sign Global Knowledge-Sharing Agreement

The Institute of Asset Management (IAM) and The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the beginning of a purposeful and strategic partnership to advance asset management knowledge and practice across the globe.

This agreement formalises an already fruitful collaboration between the two organisations, most recently demonstrated through joint work on an upcoming Practice Note on Green Infrastructure. IAM has contributed valuable international case studies to the publication, offering practical insights and real-world examples that highlight sustainable approaches to infrastructure delivery and management.

The IAM is a globally recognised, UK-headquartered professional body for asset management professionals, dedicated to advancing the discipline and improving infrastructure outcomes through knowledge, education, and community engagement. IPWEA is the leading association for public works and infrastructure professionals across Australasia, delivering best practice resources, training, and advocacy to improve the management of public assets and community services.

Ben Clark, IPWEA Deputy President, welcomed the agreement, stating:
"This partnership allows practitioners around the world to access a broader range of case studies and lessons learned. Sharing experience across continents helps us all improve the way we plan, maintain, and manage vital public infrastructure."

David Jenkins, CEO of IPWEA, described the MoU as “an exciting development that builds on the natural alignment between our organisations. We are both in the business of helping the asset management profession grow, evolve, and deliver public value. Whether it’s green infrastructure, data governance, or asset planning—together we are stronger.”

This relationship is already taking shape, with both CEOs having recently spoken at their counterpart's flagship conferences—IAM's annual UK event and IPWEA's International Public Works Conference—highlighting a shared commitment to global knowledge exchange.

IAM CEO Ursula Bryan said:

The MoU paves the way for future joint projects aimed at equipping practitioners with the tools and global insights they need to meet increasingly complex asset management challenges.
