The IAM South West Branch becomes the ninth branch to stand up within IAM UK.

The region is home to a diverse range of asset intensive businesses and sectors, and we want the branch to build on the diversity that is inherent in the region.

We want to encourage collaboration and learning whilst creating an inclusive branch that caters to both new and experienced asset management professionals but is also open to new sectors, new voices and new ideas.

IAM South West Vision

The IAM UK Vision is 'to be recognised as the leading, international, professional body for asset management’

  • Learn – informal learning through personal contact.
  • Share – ideas, experience and knowledge.
  • Network – build professional contacts and relationships.

Delivery of the vision will be through a number of key programmes focused around five themes - events, communications, membership, technical and collaboration / outreach.

This translates into our local branch as….

‘To actively support and inform the delivery of IAM UK’s vision through local learning, sharing and networking’.

‘To further support the output of key programmes through active participation and thought leadership’.

We are pleased to introduce the first IAM South West Committee:

  • Branch Chair - Ray Galeozzie
  • Vice Chair - Clive Seaton
  • Secretary - Andrew McArthur
  • Communications - Wendy Staden
  • Programme - Ryan Miszka

  • Support - Phil Wiltshire

Inaugural event outcomes

Our inaugural event took place at the University of Bristol in April, the following is a summary of the key takeaways from this event:

  • 25 organisations were in attendance with a mix of government and commercial being represented.
  • Networking was seen as one of the most important elements of these events with the appropriate amount of time needing to be allocated.
  • Both location and refreshments received very positive feedback.
  • Focused themed events around the AM subjects to be considered with benefits / learnings to be shown.
  • Sufficient notice to be provided for future events to allow planning for those required to travel.
  • The SW is a large region, the branch needs to try and be inclusive of all locations and consider taking events on the road.
  • Establish and grow relationships with other local professional bodies to support delivery of the vision.
